Be still, and know that I am God...
"Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!" God"
— Psalm 46:10
Ask yourself, "What do you do whenever life feels like it is out of whack?" We can all attest that we've heard at some point in our lives that we should be still. But what if being still feels like stagnation, then what do you do? When your life is marked, and you are carrying an enormous task, it may seem like you never get a break from trials. However, from my personal experience, I have learned that the more trials come and the harder life gets, it only means God is trusting me with more. He will never lead you into harm's way. Learning to be still in the middle of turmoil, confusion, and when the vision in your head doesn't look like your reality is the most painful yet rewarding experience. It is at those pivotal points where God can have His way that He gets all the glory for everything that takes place. One will learn to stop doing things in favor of something else because it is where God can be God. It's in that place when you learn the most, where you grow and evolve.
Furthermore, where you will thrive in seeking your truth and fully walking in who God has called you to be, there will come the point in your journey when you have to stop fighting and be still. Being still in Psalm 46:10 is a command that was given during the time of trouble. In this command to stand still, the Lord is encouraging us that we should not fear, that we should be awakened and, most importantly, to understand who God is in your life. He promised in His word that He will fight for us in Exodus 14:14, where He again reminds us that we are to be still.
I want to encourage you that when you have been faced with hardship or trials or even frustrations of seeking your truth and direction in life that you take a moment and be still, stop, halt, and cease what you are doing or thinking. Take the time to allow the Holy Spirit to mold you and stretch you that season. Will it hurt, yes, will it will feel uncomfortable, yes, will it will feel like it is easier to give up and give in to the flesh, yes, and it may even feel like you have become stagnant and stuck, but always remember that you are NOT! You have passed that test, and God is just trusting you with more. You are entering into a new season! So to answer the question of what should you do when being still feels like stagnation, you should let God be God, He would never lead you wrong. As believers, I encourage you to persevere until the end. We cannot see the results, but God sees it and remember you are destined for greatness, and the best is yet to come!
Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the wisdom that you have given me. Thank you for allowing me to move forward in faith, knowing that being still in you means that I surrender my all to you, knowing that you will fight for me and see me through. Thank you for every hard time in life because it will allow me to see the power and strength that you have given me to overcome adversities. Thank you for giving me the strength to stop when I need to allow you to step in. Lord, I ask that there is less of me and more of you, and I take this journey in seeking who You have destined me to be. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray Amen!
